Fisheye lens and ordered off eBay, and I tried to put it on my Nikon D40. I do not know how to express it. Can anyone help please?

She looks like a filter type bought, "target" that screws into the front of the normal lens. Only to live as any other filter, right at the front of the lens. If this is not the right size, you could of "step down" rings to speak, but the cost of a fisheye lens again, it would be useful.
It takes a 52mm filter size for your lens 18-55.
